2. Provide comprehensive primary health care emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention to individuals, families, and groups across the lifespan.
I have completed over 720 clinical hours providing comprehensive health care to a variety of individuals throughout the lifespan. My clinical experience focused on physical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and clinical management of patients in the primary care, geriatric health, adult health, women's health, pediatrics, and emergency medicine settings. I developed a health promotion and disease prevention project concerning the Tdap vaccination for pregnant women. To further reflect my experience in a variety of populations, I have included SOAP notes for the geriatric, adult, women's health, and pediatric populations.

3. Utilize and conduct research that will promote quality health care and its delivery to improve clinical outcomes for selected population groups.
Evidence-based practice includes using the best current evidence, clinical expertise, and client values to provide the best available care. Over three semesters of my graduate program I developed, conducted, and evaluated an evidence-based project focused on childhood and adolescent overweight and obesity. My project evaluated how providing parental education inloo conjunction with the child's BMI would affect the weight of the child.

4. Manage available technology and/or information systems in the delivery of primary care.
I used a variety of electronic medical records (EMR) during my clinical rotations. EMRs have quickly replaced paper chart documentation and improved the efficiency of charting. The EMR provides a story line of all aspects of care given and planned for the patients' needs. Medatrax was used to log and manage clinical hours and patient encounters.

5. Implement culturally competent primary care with a focus on quality improvement and safety that incorporates the socioeconomic, political, ethical, and diversity variable of each population.
It is vital for the PCNP to be able to provide culturally competent care in today's increasingly diverse, multicultural society. Cultural competency enhances quality improvement and safety while reducing health disparities and improving access to health care that is respectful and responsive to patients' needs.

6. Apply theoretical foundations and change principles while leading in the development and implementation of innovations that advance practice in a primary care setting.
A nursing theory is an organized framework of concepts and purposes designed to guide the practice of nursing. They consist of definitions, relationships, and assumptions that guide the advance practice nurse in describing, explaining, predicting, and prescribing.

7. Use ethical principles in decisions regarding issues related to individuals, populations, and health care delivery systems.
As an advance practice nurse, it is essential to practice in an ethically sound professional manner while balancing ethical considerations with professional values and relevant legislation. Ethical principles provide criteria on which to base judgement in relation to ethical theories and guide practitioners in maintaining accountability and responsibility in relation to ethical and legal issues.

8. Provide advocacy and leadership in the primary care setting that addresses the needs of culturally diverse populations, providers, and environments.
Nurse practitioners are quickly emerging as key leaders in the health care industry. They possess qualities such as integrity, courage and initiative that enhance their ability to think critically, set goals, and skillfully communicate and collaborate. Advocacy is a vital component of the leadership role. The PCNP is in a unique position to identify the needs of culturally diverse populations and advocate for patients, health care providers, the nursing profession and the environments in which care is provided. I have included my Institutional Assessment presentation that identifies and explores assessment, change, and evaluation.
